We have just spent the weekend camping at Cobb & Co. Nine Miles Camping Grounds on the Sunshine Coast. What a great spot, with plenty of room to spread out and lots of activities on offer. Here’s what we discovered:
Where is it?
Cobb & Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds is set on 50 acres on the Six Mile Creek on the edge of the Sunshine Coast. It is approx 20 minutes south of Gympie. Sean, Katherine and their family have owned the camping ground for almost a decade, and have developed it from the ground up into a great family getaway.
What Accommodation Options Are There?
Unpowered Camping
With plenty of space to choose from (50 acres), there are lots of unpowered camping sites available. We went with a group of families and were able to find a large spot where we could all camp near each other and congregate at night (it would have been around the campfire but there is a total fire ban at the moment). You can bring your caravan, motor-home, camper trailer, tent or swag!
Luxury Moveable Tents
These are called ‘Luxury Moveable Tents’ and they are seriously the best things. They can be towed to anywhere you would like to set up on the campgrounds. If you are dabbling your toes in the waters of camping or don’t have a lot of camping equipment….these are perfect.
Safari Tents, Cabin-Style Tents, Breezeway Tents
Cobb & Co. camping ground has got the luxury-glamping style tent accommodation SORTED! They have lots of options available for those who prefer to leave the camping gear (and the hassle of setting it up and down) at home! Check out their website for all the different options (2 night minimums apply).
What Facilities Are There?
Dotted across the campgrounds are several toilet blocks. The main amenities block is located near the reception area and includes flushing toilets & hot showers. Happy camper!
There are also 2 camp kitchens and a kiosk where you can get your essentials like ice, firewood, milk etc.
What Activities Are There?
They really have considered young families when building up the camping grounds. There are bmx tracks, a flying fox, playgrounds, a billabong, bushwalks, Cobbs Farm Yard and this fabulous Pirate Ship to explore.
On top of this though, they offer pony led rides, horse & carriage rides, train rides on the Cobbapilla and much more.
There’s Coffee!
Yes, I know, it’s the little things BUT they have an espresso bar there and it is good! Keeping our caffeine withdrawals at bay for a couple of days was a godsend. They also make fabulous hot chocolates, iced teas & milkshakes.
In Summary
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away. The kids were happy and busy with the abundance of fun outdoor activities on offer. We found the staff to be super friendly and the grounds & amenities were kept very clean.
