I do LOVE to travel oh so very much!! When I had kids it took us quite a few years to get the confidence up to do a trip overseas with them. Once we did I had the family travel bug and we have been going overseas every year with our kids since.  In fact this year we are off to Singapore in September for 8 nights which I am super excited about and that will also be our first overseas trip as a family of 5. I have learnt a thing or two travelling as a family overseas and…

Of course it depends what you mean by camping but for this story we will focus on some spots where you can tent, use your camper trailer or caravan/motorhome but that aren’t just your regular old caravan parks. The other limitation is we are aiming for under 90 minutes drive from Brisbane in normal traffic. 1. Neurum Creek This site borders Mount Mee State Forest and is less than 10 mins form the quaint town of Woodford.  There you can get anything you might need but you feel away from it all at the site. The privately owned site is quite large…

WOW! We just had the best fun at Game Over on the Gold Coast! This one-year-old indoor activity centre totally blew us away when we visited with three families for a party this last weekend. The key drawcard was the amazing indoor karting but this large complex also includes laser tag and an incredible Clip ‘N Climb adventure arena … And all in air-conditioning! The first thing that struck me was that it was a lot closer to Brisbane than I expected. Its actually right opposite Movie World on the other side of the highway (just past all of the food…

We had a chance to visit Aussie World on the Sunshine Coast.  Driving past I thought it looked OK but after spending a day there with our 3 kids we thought is was fantastic and excellent value for money! My eldest daughter is 7 years old and has always been overwhelmed by the thought of fast rides.  Aussie World provided some fun and really great ease in rides for the more anxious child PLUS some great more thrill seeking rides for kids looking for more thrill seeking fun. The rides easily spanned from 18 months to late teens so a…

I remember when I was first told I would be going to Dubai for School Mum to “experience Dubai” and share all about it. I was like CRAZY DAYS people. I started doing research straight away to see some of the things Dubai had to offer for the budding tourist and the Atlantis The Palm and Aquaventure Waterpark were some of the things that stood out to me.  When I heard we would be making a trip to visit here I was SOOOO excited!! The kid in me still loves a waterslide and this place was the ultimate (kind of…

During my recent stay to Dubai I got the absolute pleasure of being able to say at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai.  My initial reaction when I first found out was “fancy” haha.  The reality though was I was unsure exactly how I would go in this more traditionally “business” style accommodation with a kid. After spending a week here I now realise how wrong I was to worry as this place was super kid friendly and here are my top 12 reasons why I think that. 1: There is an ice-cream station at the buffet breakfast.  YES FOLKS you…

Hubby and I have always been keen to go on family adventures and holidays with our kids but we realised early on things did not always go the way we had fantasised in our heads. We also had to learn that a “family holiday” was very different to a “couples holiday” haha (eg. bring on the local RSL).  We have travelled overseas twice with our kids when there were two and both of those times they were still quite young, which  has taught us a thing or two. We have just come back from our first road trip holiday to…
