When you think about going for a trip to a big city, your first thought might be that it will be an expensive holiday. It doesn’t have to be that way. Most cities are full of free attractions, so if you splurge one day on admission tickets, you can still do something that doesn’t cost money on the next day. It is especially true about Sydney as the city is a myriad of things to do and see that doesn’t break the bank. Just put on your walking shoes and set out to see this great metropolis. 1) Number one…

Holidaying with kids can sometimes sound like an impossibility but a friend of mine recently wrote a beautiful post reflecting on their latest attempt.  It’s our final night in New Zealand and it’s got me thinking about things. My parents took me to NZ when I was a kid and I thought it was pretty great. Dad and Mum spent ages planning it and making some great memories for us and I remember always thinking how much fun our folks must have had. I then remember watching some movies of the trip in my 20s and thinking how it was…

Adelaide, although not as famous a tourist spot as its other Australian big city cousins, it still is a great destination for a holiday. There are many sights and activities you can do if you are visiting with the kids. Here is our family’s top 5: Adelaide Zoo Me (and my kids’) number one place to visit in Adelaide has to be the Adelaide Zoo. It is located within a very convenient walking distance to the city. It not only has Australian Native animals, but different species from all around the world. It is Australia’s oldest zoo and the only…

Having a family day at the snow is fun even if you are not a skier or snowboarder. We spent a week at Canberra and decided to drive up to Perisher for a day of snow play. Setting off early in the morning, in 2 hours we were at Jindabyne, a beautiful town at the Jindabyne Lake. If you are looking for cheap(er) accommodation, this is your place.  Perisher doesn’t really have on snow accommodation, most people drive up from Jindabyne. In another half an hour, we got to the Ski Tube. The Ski Tube is really a little train…

If you live in tropical Queensland, there is a chance you have never seen snow.  Snow is magical and fun and our family (coming from a country where snow is a yearly occurrence) misses it a lot. Every year we try to spend a couple of days in a winter wonderland and we are not willing to break the bank on these trips. For a couple of years now, I have been wanting to go to New Zealand, as people say, the snow there is amazing, but looking at prices I always found it too expensive. Until this year, when…

We just recently got back from a holiday in Byron Bay which involved 7 kids and 4 adults.  You could say that would be considered a large group to accommodate on a holiday. I remember when we decided to have our 3rd baby there was a moment I thought how tricky that was going to make some things.  Holidays was one of them.  Hubby and I quite enjoy travelling and have done a bit since we had the kids.  2 adults and 2 kids is fine to accommodate at most places but you chuck in a 3rd child and it…

Written By Scott Guyatt Tasmania. The very word ‘Tasmania’ conjours images of its own doesn’t it? Soaring mountains, lush rolling hills, rugged coastlines, layers of history, wonderful food, cold winters, the holiday isle. It’s no surprise that Tasmania ranks as one of Australia’s favourite holiday destinations. It is stunningly beautiful and packed with adventure in such a small place. It’s a favourite for honeymooners, adventure-seekers, and grey nomads alike. But what about families? What’s it like to holiday in Tasmania with the kids on board? How should you get there? When should you go? Where should you visit? How should you…

My family live in an amazing place. For starters it is in the greatest country in the world, in a fabulous suburb in a capital city and within 100m of the ocean. The climate is great and there is much to be thankful for. My kids are growing up with an outdoor lifestyle but still in a built up suburb with everything they need close by. They see animals but only dogs and cats and even then on a lead haha. They have no real concept of where their meals come from that involves any more challenge than finding a spot in the…

We were lucky enough to get the opportunity to experience a Staycation at the Novotel Brisbane recently . I seriously love the idea of a Staycation. Sometimes it is all too difficult and expensive to pack up the family for a week and go for a vacation so this a great affordable alternative. The Novotel offers as awesome deal for families to get away for a night of fun with the kids without the huge price tag. Did you know about the Novotel Family Promises that are available Nationwide? One of the major benefits is a 5pm checkout on Sunday, allowing families to…
