The beach is a beautiful, fun activity BUT does require a little bit of prep if you have young ones in tow….it’s no longer grab the towel and sunscreen… Set out below are some beach hacks for holidaying families: 1. Sunscreen Before You Go This is a game changer. I learned this one the hard way. Sunscreen everybody before you go to allow the sunscreen to soak in – that way when you hit the sand you are ready to go. Take some sunscreen with you to top up once you’re there. Thoroughly recommend rashies on everyone as well.…

With Summer holidays upon us it is an exciting time of the year.  As thousands of Australian families prepare for the Summer break, it is also an important time to talk about road safety and keeping our children safe around roadways. During the Summer months, school zones are not operating but there are many more children out and about in our neighbourhoods. As ‘The Holidaying Family’ community, we are getting behind Little Blue Dinosaur’s “It’s Holiday Time: Slow Down, Kids Around” campaign.  It launches every December across 42 councils in four States (and counting) and is aimed at educating…

Is the idea of going to a farm stay with the family idealistic? Do city kids really get anything out of the experience? Well, we took our family to a farm stay last month to check it out and here’s what we observed: Nature Right On Your Doorstep Waking up bright and early on the farm, the first thing we noticed was that nature was right on our doorstep. The sounds and smells of the farm were very apparent, in a good way. Roosters crowing, crisp fresh morning air, the lack of traffic noise, the smell of animals wafting around…

We are not long home from a wonderful family holiday (2A & 3C) in the South Island of New Zealand. We spent the tail end of our holiday in Queenstown and it proved to be one of the highlights of our trip. What a fabulous place!  It is an adrenaline hit just being there. Queenstown has a backdrop of snow covered mountains called The Remarkables (for a reason!) and beautiful blue, blue water. Apart from being insanely picturesque….there is just so much to see, do and experience as a family. Set out below is a snippet of what we got…

I know it is boring but it really will give you peace of mind as you travel along. 2. Charge your phone. Make your day better by having your…
